Traineeships

Traineeships are designed to support young people who want to develop their skills for an apprenticeship or sustainable employment but may not currently have the appropriate skills or experience. A traineeship prepares young people for their future careers and helps them prepare and feel comfortable at work. It provides necessary work preparation training, such as Maths, English, IT and work experience.

The target group for Traineeships is people aged 16 to 24 who are not currently employed and have little to no work experience, but are focused on obtaining employment. Traineeships are tailored for young people who providers believe have a reasonable chance of being ready for employment or an Apprenticeship within six months of completing a Traineeship programme.

Traineeships offer employers the opportunity to shape training and experience with the help of OMG, creating high-quality applicants for sectors to draw on. It provides applicants with the confidence, skills, and experience they need and seek, thereby offering opportunities to younger people in the community and fostering a sense of worth ethic.

If a young person participating in a work experience placement within your company shows potential to become a productive member of staff during the Traineeship, we encourage employers to support them in applying for an apprenticeship or other suitable vacancy that may be available.
